Madonna's MDNA: Swallowing It One Pill At A Time

MTV News takes a look at why Madge's upcoming album is a drug worth taking.

Madonna wants us to dance the heartbreak away on MDNA. The record, set to drop on March 26, has some of the finest musical moments we've heard from the pop legend in the last few years, recalling the finer songs and themes she explored on Ray of Light and Confessions on a Dance Floor.

It's clear that Madge had her heart broken, most likely by her former hubby and British auteur, Guy Ritchie. She explores the pain of life post-divorce on many of the songs on the album, and most of the time, it works perfectly. Madonna really understands heartbreak and she understands even better how it can empower someone to be a better person.

While all the buzz seems to be about "I Don't Give A" and the bit too on-the-nose confessions she makes about her divorce (where she even sings about falling off a horse), her anger is even darker on the William Orbit-produced "Gang Bang."

Sparse at times and always punctuated by a pulsing beat, it's incredibly hard. It's the type of record you'd expect to hear at some after-hours club that your really edgy friend knows about. It's about falling completely in love and falling more deeply into hate when it's over. Serving as a pop-song revenge fantasy, Madonna sings, "And I'm going straight to hell/ And I've got a lot of friends there/ And if I see that b---- in Hell/ I'm gonna shoot him in the head again/ Cause I wanna see him die/ Over and over and over."

On the disco-tinged "Love Spent," Madge sings about feeling like nothing more than a bank to a former lover (she did have one very costly breakup from Ritchie), and on the remorseful, melodic "Best Friend," she admits, "Your picture's off the wall, but I'm still waiting for your call/ And every man that walks through the door/ Will be compared to you."

"Superstar" is light and airy, recalling some of the singer's highlights from the '80s. The mid-tempo's production, which comes courtesy of Hardy "Indiigo" Muanza, certainly helps distract from some of the sillier lyrics that have Madonna comparing her boy toy to famed dudes like Al Capone and James Dean.

If anyone was wondering why she called the album MDNA, all they need to do is look to "I'm Addicted," the super club-thumping track full of bleeping noises, spare moments and then big chugging ones, which are filled out with loopy instances. It's about letting go and loving someone completely: "Now that your name/ Pumps like blood in my veins/ Pulsing through my body, lighting my mind/ It's like MDNA and that's OK." MDNA, of course, is also known as ecstasy, giving the track the perfect metaphor for love on the dance floor.

While most of the album addresses the highs and lows of falling in love, "Some Girls" is all about Madonna proclaiming her awesomeness. Another Orbit jam, it's a crunchy, robotic, thumping anthem that puts Madonna right in the center of female empowerment. "I'm not like the rest," she proclaims, as if anyone would ever question that. "Some girls are second best." On the chorus, she declares, "Some girls are not like me/ I'm everything you've ever dreamed of/ I got you begging please."

One of the highlights is "Turn Up the Radio," which sounds like it was born to be this summer's feel-good anthem. It's bright, happy and fun, all about letting go of the past. Over Martin Solveig's sunny production, Madge sings, "It was time I opened my eyes/ I'm leaving the past behind/ Nothing's ever what it seems/ Including this time and this crazy dream."

She's not wrong to be that confident on this album. She's certainly in the groove. And the album is full of strength, but it's also her vulnerability that rounds it out. If fans thought link type="content" id="1678478">"Give Me All Your Luvin' " and "Girl Gone Wild" are what this era is all about, they are only seeing pieces of the MDNA puzzle, that's only completed when listening to the album from front to back. In the end, this album is a drug worth taking.

Are you counting down the days to the release of MDNA? Let us know in the comments!

Who doesn't like DRAGONS?!!

Who doesn't like DRAGONS?!!
So I've noticed that there are a lot of dragon roleplays going on. Really, people? Really? HELL YES. Dragons have to be one of the coolest things that man has ever created with his own mind. I mean, we have the classic Eragon/dragonriderdoohickything... And then we have that one TV show with all the multi-colored dragons going around their land helping people. What's the name.. OH, Dragon Tales, that's right! Well, I can't say what I'm doing is completely original. Because in all honesty, it isn't. But the concept of it, and the plot is going to be entirely of my own design. And if you have a problem with it, well, ask me about it. But for now I'd suggest that you just start reading up on what my idea is at first. If you really weren't interested about dragons, you wouldn't have clicked on the link to this thread in the first place.

THE ESSENTIALS: PLOTS AND SETTING.
The setting, ah the setting. What could be a more interesting setting than where the dragons are born? Yes, I'm talking about a place where dragons are created, raised, and finally shipped off to different homes. I'm talking about a dragon farm, man! But obviously this isn't going to be your run of the mill Kentucky-chicken-cow-moo-cluck-snort-piggy-corn farm. This is going to be a farm of epic proportions. This is where the mommy dragons and the daddy dragons mate, and eventually produce new baby dragon eggs. The farm is on the edge of a jungle, which is where the dragon's main food would be. There's a ton of stuff they can harvest for the dragons to eat in this way. What's this dragon farm called? Well... It's called "That one dragon farm that I haven't named yet because I have no idea what to name it." It's a cool name, right? (In all honesty, I do need a name for it. So just so I know you've been reading thus far, tell me what you think I should name it. Pleeeease?).

There are three main parts to this dragon farm. There's the stables, which are where the female and the male dragons are kept. There's the nursery, which is where the eggs are stored... And then there's the other parts of the farm. The last part is really vague, because this farm is almost set up like a small town. It makes its own food, and the people that live and work there never leave. Some of these people joined because they wanted to, other people are there because they haven't paid off their debts yet. But we'll get to that later. There's a ton of things you can do in your spare time, when you're off work that is. And the people that do work at the stables? Well, they come from different homes, different situations, and different lives. Now that we have the setting sort of sketched out, let's get to the plot.

THE PLOT! There are no dragon riders, because dragons aren't bred for riding. Well, some of them are, and some of them are bred for fighting. But most of the people that raise the dragons, take care of them, and eventually come to love them are literally cast aside when the dragons are sold to other breeders, or people who gamble on them to fight. To be honest, there really is no set plot here. The sky is the limit with this. If you're interested, it means that you have to know how to fly solo and keep your character entertained without actually bumping into another person's character every other second. You have to make your own plot. That's all you need to worry about. It's MY job to tie all the plots together to make it into one story. So, be creative, don't limit yourself. If I see something I don't like then I'll make sure to tell you. But if I don't say anything it means that you're on the right track, and that I'm supporting you every step of the way.

CHARACTERS!
Hurray, you've made it this far. Now all you need to do is create a character. This is where it gets really interesting. Usually, in order to join a roleplay you have to make a character sheet. This time, you really don't have to. Yes, you don't have to make a character sheet. But that doesn't mean I'll accept any kind of idea from you. You need a certain level of thought put into any character you come up with in the back of your mind. Just because your character's profile will be blank, doesn't mean you can just take every mary-sue and gary-lou style and use it. I'm not stupid! And another thing, all characters must be humans. I will be playing the dragons as NPCs for a while. If I see someone who looks like a potential dragon roleplayer, then I'll let them do it in the space of a heart beat. Until then, think of those characters. This is set somewhere in the medieval times, so make sure that they have no cellphones, iPods, NOT EVEN WALKMANS!

[[ I'm sure that you've noticed, there are a lot of holes in this idea. That's because I'm too lazy to write them all down. What do dragons eat? How do we take care of them? (Because you ARE taking care of them, you are the dragon's care takers). What kind of ranks are there here? What's an average caretaker's day like? What's in the town? I'm sure you have a ton of questions for me, that I'm willing to answer. You just have to ask. You can email me, raizethecraze@live.com, or you can go to this etherpad and talk to me there. HERE! And just to be nice, I'm going to explain why there are so many holes at the present moment.

WHY, RAIZE, WHY?
I have noticed recently that a lot of awesome roleplays are very well thought out. To the tiniest detail. But I've also seen roleplays go down, way down because of that. That's why this roleplay is going to be relaxed. That's why I'm letting your characters take hold of their own destinies instead of going with an entire plot. Maybe they hate dragons, maybe they plot to have one killed. Maybe your character is going to steal someone else's dragon. Maybe they resent someone else in the care taking business, and so they plot to get back at that person. Pair up and make two plots become one, split apart and go your separate ways. Be creative, be independent, be free! That's what I'm looking for. Maybe, just maybe... You might even get to play a dragon. We'll see.

If you have more questions, please go to this etherpad and ask me, I'm there!

Diet Tips For Children Exam Time | Cute Parents

During exams, students spend long hours studying and staying awake. Intake of the rightfood in small quantities with brain food will keep them stimulated and alert. During exam a little modification in lifestyle is needed.

Here are some exam time diet tips...

  • A high level of phosphorus from processed food and soft drinks will deplete bone density and cause fracture.
  • Teach your children to eat slowly and savour each mouthful.
  • Try to have small and frequent meals.
  • Don't reheat food - it will spoil the nutrients of food and release unpleasant-smelling sulfur compounds and may cause gas.
  • Ensure that the child doesn't chew gum. The chewing action causes him to swallow more digestive juices, which will increase his hunger.
  • Children should have succulent fruits and vegetables because that will rehydrate the body and provide enrichment of nutrients and will not make them feel sleepy after the meal. ?A fruit plate with water melon, musk melon, strawberries, oranges, and sweetlime works well and for a salad plate opt for green cucumber, and zuuchini and salad leaves.
  • Almonds, walnut, pumpkin seeds, cucumber and watermelon will help in improving memory and concentration. Nuts are full of DHA, which is needed in high levels in the brain and eye for learning and memory.
  • Starchy vegetables makes you lethargic and sleepy, so avoid potato, suran, arbi etc.
  • Try to consume light vegetables like bottle gourd or doodhi, Gelki, carrots, methi etc. l
  • Chilled raita with fresh fruit or vegetable is great.
  • Instead of samosas, burgers, and namkeen farsan, opt for almonds, cashewnuts, pista, pumpkin seeds sukha bhel and chana.
  • Instead of aerated drinks try healthy fresh fruit milkshakes, lassie.
  • Try to combine large-chopped fresh salad (fine chopping loses nutrients) and healthy drink or fresh juices.
  • Avoid fried and refined foods (bread, maida products) which make you more sleepy and lethargic. l Iodine is very important. Have iodized salt.
  • Avoid too much of tea and coffee as they will cause acidity and heart burn.
  • Hydrate your body. Drink lots of water, fresh seasonal fruit juices
  • Before exams good and sound sleep is very important.
  • Keep yourself happy. Listen to relaxing music during study breaks.
  • Avoid? Burgers, Pizza, Hot Dogs, Aerated drinks, Sandwich, Red meat,?and?Deep fried food during the exam period

Bellator fighter off Friday?s card, wanted by police

Eric Oria was supposed to show up at Bellator's weigh-ins on Thursday to officially weigh in for his first professional fight in Hammond, Ind. Instead, the Indiana State Police showed, looking to take Oria into custody.

The Northwest Indiana Times reported Oria missed Thursday's weigh-ins. Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney said Oria scratched from the card before weigh-ins because of "physical problems."

Oria had an outstanding warrant on a charge of criminal recklessness. He was scheduled to fight Lance Surma on the show's undercard. After two amateur fights in Hammond, he was set to make his pro debut in the same town as his other fights.

In an interview with the Times earlier in the week, he said the fight was "on the highlights of his life." According to MMA Recap, the fight was pulled because it was too late to find a

Oria's no-show was not the only shake-up to Friday's card. The featherweight tournament was shook up as Genair da Silva did not make weight and was replaced by Kenny Foster. Foster will now take on "PoPo" Bezerra.

Dive master with Calgary woman who died in Mexico says he also felt unwell

CALGARY ? The dive master who was scuba diving in Mexico with a Calgary woman before she died described feeling dizzy and unwell while underwater, but maintains he doesn?t know what led her death.

?I was dizzy in the last three or four minutes of the dive. I was having a super strong pain in the chest. I wasn?t really aware of anything,? said Jorge Duchateau, adding he had little strength when he surfaced.

However, the diving instructor with Conquest Divers declined to elaborate on the events that preceded the death of Ronda Cross.

?Of course, I feel terrible. I feel this is a tragedy for the family, for Ronda,? he said. ?I just don?t want to point at anyone right now before I have some information from the authorities.?

Ronda Cross, 41, was diving Saturday with her cousin, Roxanne Amundson, and the guide at a depth of about 23 metres off Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, when Cross appeared to be overcome due to carbon monoxide in the scuba tanks, said her family, who blame faulty rental equipment.

Amundson also reported feeling ill after the dive.

The Mexican publication El Sudcaliforniano reported that Cross died of asphyxiation by drowning. Her family said she was an experienced diver who had 200 dives under her belt.

Cross did not surface with the guide or her cousin, said her family, saying her floating body was pulled out of the water by the crew of a nearby boat.

The guide declined to divulge where he got his tanks filled.

The family has named Sunshine Dive and Charter as the company that filled the tanks, which manager Jonatan Montes de Oca has denied.

?It?s unfortunate what has happened, but I have no idea why our name is being affiliated,? he said, adding authorities have not approached him. ?We are definitely talking to a lawyer to see what can be done.?

Meanwhile, Cross?s body was returned to Calgary Wednesday afternoon, said her husband, Colin Cross.

A funeral will be held Saturday in Elkford, B.C., where the couple lived part-time.

Colin said he?s been frustrated with the lack of information about the investigation into his wife?s death.

?We haven?t heard a thing from the police at all. It?s just driving me crazy,? he said.

Colin, also an experienced diver, said in addition to the company that filled the tanks, the dive master should be held accountable for ensuring the tanks? air quality.

He said he?s considering taking legal action.

But the main thing is to get the message out for other divers to be careful, Colin said, adding: ?Ronda would want this to not happen again.?

Members of the local scuba diving community are saddened by the news and say carbon monoxide poisonings in scuba diving ? if confirmed to be the case in Cross? death ? are rare.

?This is a fairly uncommon situation and a very unfortunate event,? said John Harcus, owner of Caribbean Dreams Diving in Calgary.

A scuba compressor puts out Grade E breathing air, which is a Compressed Gas Association minimum standard for input into a scuba cylinder, he said.

?The only way this (carbon monoxide poisoning) could likely happen is if a vehicle or boat had its exhaust running and the intake of the compressor was in close proximity to that exhaust,? Harcus said. ?That could happen if the wind would change or if the compressor was too close to a source of exhaust of an internal combustion engine.?

To protect themselves, divers should always seek a reputable dive shop, many of which employ instructors certified by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, and ask to see the qualifications of those responsible for filling the tanks, Harcus said.

Cathie McCuaig, executive director of the recreational non-profit Alberta Underwater Council, based in Edmonton, also recommends that divers look into purchasing carbon monoxide testers if they have concerns or are diving in an unfamiliar area.

She agreed with Harcus that these incidents are very uncommon, but can occur due to poor maintenance, poor positioning of the compressor or if the intake was too close to the source of a contaminant, like a motor.

As well, the air in a tank should be odourless and tasteless so as soon as someone tastes or smells something, the dive should be aborted immediately, McCuaig said.

Cross?s father-in-law, Dennis Cross, hopes to see procedures changed at all dive shops.

?You have carbon monoxide detectors in boats and homes. Why can?t every tank before it?s put on a diver?s back be checked?? he said. ?It would be a simple procedure. It would have saved a life.?
